Dr Anita Datta is a researcher and performing working at the intersection of the arts and inclusivity. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Guildhall School of Music and Drama investigating audience experiences of artistic performances within the Immersive Opera Research Project led by UKRI Future Leader Dr Toby Young. She completed her PhD in Social Anthropology at Durham University, undertaking ethnographic research with queer activists in Kolkata with a focus on ethics, aesthetics, spatiality and personhood. In her performing life she is an established conductor, organist, soprano, and composer, with continuing roles in executive and board positions at organisations including The Swan Consort, The London Handel Festival, and The National Centre for Early Music.
