Abstract

"Followers" is a site-specific promenade opera in three parts, with a libretto by writer Simon Christmas, first staged complete at Glyndebourne Festival Opera's 2011 season, directed by Frederic Wake-Walker. Part Two takes place in a nineteenth century opera salon hosted by Hades (the Impresario), with Orpheus (the composer) having trouble composing and Eurydice ('La Signora') suffering extreme performance anxiety on account of her collapsing relationship with Orpheus.
