Abstract

This is the only section in the collection to treat the musical legacy of the Hanoverian princesses, drawing on manuscript scores and historical dance choreographies. Kathryn Hughes writes, ‘In this brilliant book … a lineup of leading historians chart the myriad ways in which three individual women, far from blocking out the Enlightenment, helped refract its sunbeams over Georgian Britain’ (The Guardian, 11 March 2017).
